Gary
Allan is a singer-songwriter with the allure of a modern day outlaw.
Allan has won over legions of fans with his signature blend of rugged
vocals, rebellious lyrics and raucous live performances. The eleven

Years ago in the bars of Southern California, Allan got his start as a
teenager, playing in his father’s band. Before he knew it, Nashville
came calling. Allan’s father felt his son was too young to sign with a
major label and insisted Gary wait until he knew exactly who he was as
an artist. Allan took his father’s advice and spent the next several
years playing bars in his native California honing his sound and
defining his style. The next time a record label came calling, he was
ready.

Allan burst onto the country radio scene with “Her Man” which peaked at
lucky #7 on the chart. It was the first of nearly a dozen top tens and
four #1 hits that would follow. Since the release of “Her Man” Allan has
sold over 7 million albums and released five platinum and gold albums
in a row including two that debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country
Albums Chart and #2 on the Billboard 200.

He has been described as “dark and dreamy” in Entertainment Weekly,
“soulful and rough around the edges” in Playboy and deemed a “maverick”
by Rolling Stone. He has sold out venues as a headliner from coast to
coast, appeared on Late Show With David Letterman, The Tonight Show With
Jay Leno, CBS Early Show and has landed on the covers of Country
Weekly, Pollstar and People magazine.

Gary Allan
is gearing up for a brand new year on the road as the headliner of the
upcoming Country Throwdown tour, and the hitmaker says he's excited to
hang with tourmates Rodney Atkins, Josh Thompson, Justin Moore, Sunny Sweeney, and Eric Paslay,
and also to bring some fresh music to the fans after a bit of time away
from the spotlight. The 'Watching Airplanes' singer reports he's been
hard at work in the studio on his latest project, working alongside a
new collaborator.

"I've recorded about a fourth of my new album, so we're in the middle of
working on it now and I go in and track it at the end of this month
with Jay Joyce -- that'll be something new," Gary told The Boot Monday
(Feb. 27) at a press event at his posh Nashville clothing store, The
Label.

Jay Joyce has produced artists ranging from Patty Griffin and Emmylou Harris to Eric Church and Cage the Elephant. He's also an in-demand session musician who can be heard on the latest albums by Tim McGraw, Miranda Lambert and Pistol Annies, among others. His latest project with Gary is expected to come out later this year.

Gary has been adding some of the new material into his sets in recent
months to see how fans respond, and says he's changed up his show a bit
this year as he heads into the Country Throwdown tour.

"I just revamped my whole show, so there will be some new things there,"
he hints. "I've got a new guitar player, and I changed the set list so I
have new songs in my set now. I'm also playing songs that I haven't
even recorded yet that will probably be recorded this month, but I've
started playing them in shows just to test them out with audiences."

Being the senior artist on the Throwdown tour, Gary says he's pumped to
be leading a tour with this kind of energy and vibe, and looks forward
to the chance to mix it up night after night onstage with his new group
of travel buddies.

"We play all the time," he says. "I don't think we've ever come off the
road, it's just whether we headline or not, or it's an actual tour. But
it's super exciting to get out there with a whole bunch of people, and
when we're headlining I get to set the tone for it, so it'll be a party
vibe!"

Gary Allan Working on First New Album in Two Years














Good news for Gary Allan
fans who have been burning holes into their copies of his last eight
albums. New music is finally on its way, and it could be in your hands
as soon as this year! Earlier this week (Feb. 27), Allan held a press
conference in Nashville from his high-end mens clothing boutique, the Label, to discuss his year that he has mapped out thus far, including his headlining slot on the 2012 Country Throwdown Tour.

Of course, we couldn’t let him get away without giving us something
to look forward to — and he delivered, promising a new full-length
album. “I’ve recorded about a fourth of my new album, so we’re in the
middle of working on it now,” Allan told Taste of Country. “I go in and
track it at the end of this month with [my producer] Jay Joyce, [so]
that’ll be something new.”

Allan has been taking some of the new tunes and working them into his
live shows in recent months, not only to give fans something new, but
to see the reaction to his new babies. It’s all part of Allan’s
new-and-improved show that he has been delivering since the release of
his 2010 album, ‘Get Off on the Pain.’

In addition to the new songs, Allan has also spruced up his live
performance with new band members. “I just revamped my whole show, so
there will be some new things there,” he reveals. “I changed the set
list, so I have new songs in my set now. I’m also playing songs that I
haven’t even recorded yet that will probably be recorded this month, but
I’ve started playing them in shows just to test them out with
audiences.”

Allan will have plenty of feedback from the ones who matter starting
May 18, when the Throwdown Tour kicks off in Gulfport, Miss. Other

New Gary Allan Album Recorded With 'Fresh Approach'







Making music is a creative exercise, right? True, but when you're doing
it professionally you have to take business into account, as well. Gary Allan,
who has made eight albums over the course of his illustrious, 16-year
career, may have seen it all, but he's still learning as he goes.

While working on his upcoming, as-yet-untitled album, the
singer-songwriter split up the recording, rather than laying down all
the tracks at one time. "It was really interesting to break it down and
only do a few songs at a time and then wait a few months, as opposed to
trying to doing a whole album at once," he tells Sioux Falls, S.D., newspaper the Argus Leader.
"The song quality was a lot better, because some of those songs that
would've been number eight, nine and 10 were done later with a fresh
approach. You start recording fresh, and sometimes you learn to like
them more by then, so the process is lot better."

This time around, Gary went into the studio for three separate sessions,
producing five of the songs himself, having Mark Wright produce
several, and teaming with Jay Joyce for the rest. In addition, the
California native's latest project was also affected by recent personnel
moves at his record label, Universal Music Group.

"They were switching label heads, so I just went ahead and cut my whole
record before the new people got in," Gary told the paper with a laugh,
explaining the reason he took an "independent" approach in recording.

It seems the modern day cowboy has never done things quite like his musical peers but rather like his musical heroes, such as Merle Haggard whom Gary describes as his "absolute favorite." He also cites Buck Owens among his early influences, and remembers paying homage to the legend in honky tonks since the age of 12.

"I really like the old stuff that I cut my musical teeth on, and I loved
it when the industry was just like that, without really a genre," he
notes. "Today, country radio's more aimed at a demographic than a genre.
It just softens everything."

This project appears to be the complete opposite. "It's a really up
album. It's a more rocking album than I've ever done," Gary told Maine
newspaper the Bangor Daily News. "It covers everything from
breaking up to healing. The first song is called 'A Tough Goodbye' and
it really goes from there. It goes from anger to healing."

The project is expected out later this year, with Gary previewing some
of the new music on the Country Throwdown tour. Get a full list of dates
