The Master of the Big Bottom!
Krame dog lays it down
After shooting the video, the guys had a photo shoot with “The
Goddess of the Lens,” Melissa Mahoney. This was the band’s first photo
shoot in some time. Melissa has to be in my top 3 favorite people to
shoot the band. She shares her keen artistic eye with her husband Casey
Patrick Tebo who is also the band’s video director. My favorite shows
directed by Casey have been the Beacon Theatre show and last years
Fenway Park show which I am almost positive will see the light of day
sometime soon.
With the temps hovering in the mid 90’s to low 100’s outside, the
band stay cool in the cozy confines of Pandora’s Box each day with Jack
Douglas laying down tracks for their next release. As you know the band
hasn’t had a studio album since “Bobo” in 2004 and an original release
since 2001 with Just Push Play. Jack reminds me of Doc Brown from Back
to the Future. He seems crazy as a loon but also as sane as a mental
health counselor. He does bring an old school vibe with him but that
doesn’t mean that this record is going to be the second coming of
“Rocks.” Toys and Rocks to me may never be duplicated and they also
stand as the benchmark to reach as iconic A-Smith albums but as Joe has
stated in several interviews in the past few years that he feels that
Aerosmith still hasn’t made their best album. The age old question from
most people is, Will it sound like Rocks? C’mon folks, I think that is
an unfair question, but what I will say is that this will sound like
vintage Aerosmith. Think “Bobo” with killer original riffs. Joey’s
playing with the precision of an “Omega Speedmaster Professional” and
gets as funky as Clyde Stubblefield on his best days. Go ahead and say
“yeah that’s what he gets paid to say” but I am telling you this stuff
is going to blow you guys away, for shizzle.

Next week I will take you behind the scenes with the guys that keep the Aerosmith engine running in the studio.
The last couple of years have been beyond turbulent for Aerosmith – but now, Steven Tyler tells Rolling Stone that the new album is almost done.
"Two months doing that and we’re almost there," Tyler said backstage at the iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas this past weekend. "We’re gonna spend another month in L.A." Is there a release date in mind? "March, hopefully."
The frontman was in great spirits, and why not? He had just schooled an audience of 20,000 fans in rock history with the help of guitar god Jeff Beck. The two of them sounded so good together on songs like "You Really Got Me" and Sly and the Family Stone's "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)" it seemed a shame to waste that magic pairing on only four songs.
Could there be more collaborations with Beck in the making? "The rest is yet to reveal," Tyler said. "If I had my way, I’d say yes. We did 'Cry Me A River' and an Etta James song," he says. "[We] went to rehearsal to learn these four songs. Two we knew and we just wound up filling in the breaks with all kinds of crazy stuff." Among those were also some Hendrix songs, according to bassist Tal Wilenfeld, who toured with Beck and sat in on the superstar jam session at I Heart Radio.
For his part, Beck had a great time being on stage with a frontman of Tyler's caliber. "Big gigs are not my thing for the sound purposes, but when you’ve got him there he carries the weight, 100 percent," he said. "I enjoyed the fact that everybody was digging what he was doing, so my job was a lot easier."
Lauren Alaina to Appear on Upcoming Aerosmith Album
Despite being Steven Tyler’s favorite from early on last season on “American Idol,” Lauren Alaina finished second to Scotty McCreery. While she didn’t finish on top, the “Georgia Peaches” singer is still first in line to team up with the Aerosmith rocker.
Lauren announced via her Twitter that she “went to the studio to record background vocals for the new Aerosmith record” after returning to the Idol stage. (She performed her hit single “Georgia Peaches,” giving this year’s batch of Idol hopefuls a look at the type of talent they’d be up against.)
It’s great to see Steven and Lauren work together on the new record – Aerosmith hasn’t had an album since 2004, so old and new fans alike will hear the collaboration. “#ISTHISREAL?” she tweeted, thanking the superstar for letting her be part of the collaboration.
Lauren’s album Wildflower debuted at No.5 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, so she’s going strong post-Idol, and this partnership with Steven can only help. She’s just finishing up Jason Aldean’s “My Kinda Party” tour, and she’s scheduled to start traveling with Sugarland on their “In the Hands of the Fans” tour at the beginning of April, so Lauren’s staying pretty busy!
Will the collaboration be country, rock, or both? All we know is with two talented musicians like Steven and Lauren, we know it’ll be great. We can’t wait to hear it!
Aerosmith song on the ‘G.I. Joe’ soundtrack

We hear Aerosmith will have a song called “Legendary Child” on the soundtrack for the upcoming movie “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” the sequel to “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” starring Channing Tatum. An outtake from their album “Get a Grip,” the song will be remixed for the film and could even make it onto the band’s next studio album. Rumor has it the boys from Boston may debut the song this spring during their scheduled appearance on “American Idol,” where frontman Steven Tyler is currently a judge.
